It might sound a little uncommon but yeast infection in men is a reality. It might sound bizarre but it does happen. Unfortunately many men don’t realize that the problem is a yeast infection right away. That is because for men it takes more time for the symptoms to become evident. When they finally do present themselves then men often don’t think about it possibly being a yeast infection, besides that’s something that only happens to women right?
How do men get yeast infections anyway? Well believe it or not there are lots of ways for this type of illness to take hold. Should a man have sex with a woman who has a yeast infection he could get it. That’s right it is a contagious disease, to an extent. But having sexual relations isn’t the only way to transmit the disease. You can also get it through your diet if you eat a lot of wheat and corn products. You can also get it from some antibiotics or if your immune system is really weak. And, surprise, surprise, you can get it if you are a heavy drinker of beer. That’s right beer, that’s because beer’s main ingredient is fermented yeast.
Why are yeast infections in men even possible? Well, it’s just like with women. This type of infection occurs when there is an unbalance of yeast and probiotics in your system. That’s why if you intake too much yeast, for example through drinking excess amounts of beer, it could cause a shift in the balance and cause an infection.
What are some of the symptoms of a yeast infection in men? Urinary tract issues and a bladder infection are often prime symptoms of having this type of infection. The other symptoms are often overlooked as being the signs of a yeast infection because, unlike in women, in men the infection starts in the digestive tract. These other symptoms can be passed off as being symptoms of many other types of illnesses. These include chapped skin, constipation, indigestion, gas, boating, impotence, and diarrhea. Some men have also noticed bad breath, sinus infections, and acne as being caused by this type of illness. Other areas of the body may develop smaller infections as well if you leave this illness untreated.
Treating male yeast infection is relatively simple. First you must go to your physician and be tested for this type of infection. Once your doctor has determined that you do indeed have a yeast infection he can prescribe the proper medication. If you don’t want to survive off of a bunch of pills then there are several other natural remedies. These include eating plain unsweetened yogurt, taking coconut oil supplements, or even drinking garlic water.
Yeast infections in men can be painful and frustrating. It can take a long time to figure out exactly what is wrong with you. The best thing you can do to keep from getting this type of illness is to maintain a healthy diet (don’t over indulge in wheat, corn or drinking) and if you participate in sexual activity with a woman who is currently fighting an infection herself, use protection.
